What makes Ghanaweb editors think Nigerian's SE look upto Black Stars as rivals, and therefore must win a 4th Afcon trophy to measure up with Ghana's 4 titles won in the 60s and 70s when most people here were not born? Ghana has not won Afcon since 1982 when only 4-8 countries where playing Afcon- indeed 2 of the titles were won when only 4 African countries participated.

It's a shame Ghana were booted out of Afcon group stages in the last 3 editions and did not even qualify for the 2025 edition in Morocco, the first time in over 40 years, yet all do in Ghanaweb is think of imaginary "duck measurement" with Nigeria. At least Nigeria has win the Afcon twice since 1990s and the turn of the Century, in 2013 and Ghana is living in pre-historic era and think we are doing better because Nigeria did not qualify for 2026 World cup. We are going for our 5th WC, Nigeria has already been to 6 WCs.

Why don't we measure with Cameroon, who have won Afcon 5 times, 3 of which are since the turn of the 21st century- 2000, 2002 and 2017, or Egypt that has won Afcon 7 times and are also qualified for both Afcon 2025 and World cup 2026?
