Someone said we should just build a wall to separate the north from us and allow them to finish killing themselves. We all chastised the person. However, it must be clear to everyone that as a nation we growing tired of this perpetual conflict on which so much national resources is being wasted. The people who should lead the campaign; the educated elite, are rather the ones fueling it while they a peaceful environment in Accra and other places at the south.
I used to respect this Amidu but never knew he is this childish and daft. Must the Nayiri and Bawkunaba be the Asantehene’s subject before he could mediate in the conflict? When two people are fighting, do you need to even know them before you try to separate the fight and promote reconciliation?
The conflict is an indictment on all responsible northerners! You can’t solve your problems, live together in peace and understanding like civilized society, someone is helping to bring peace and you are attacking him and spewing nonsense.

Martin Amidu just likes the ring and sound of the word “gargantuan” in his ears. He throws the word about to awe his audience. But truth be told, his pronouncements are designed to undermine confidence in initiatives he is not in control of.

One can choose to be a peacemaker or a troublemaker. One can have their own opinions. What one cannot be allowed to do is to occupy both sides of the equation or create his own facts aside from the commonly accepted, observable, and agreed empirical facts. He is only good at describing problems or issues, but hardly prescribes solutions.

He just enjoys creating storms and the stirring of raw emotions. The treatise he has posted amounts to much ado about nothing. It doesn’t offer any pathways to peace. Enough of his gargantuan bellicose epistles. Let’s give peace a chance in Bawku.

Asantehene didn't use asante customary law to arrive at the report presented to the president. Asantehene didn't deviate from supreme court ruling so what is his beef? I find it difficult to understand why Martin, a learned man of his calibre is disputing a supreme court order. Asantehene would have worsened the already volatile situation if he had overturned supreme court ruling. Asantehene was given a task and clearly, he didn't use his or asante customary law to pass judgment so I expect stakeholders like Martin to cool down tempers but not to fan the flame.

The question then is how come that during his tenure in office as an Attorney-General, this matter was not settled using the constitution? Why did he question the mediator since this was a mediation? The Otumfuor was the same king who settled the Dagbon case, right? What is different today? Why is Amidu worried that the report was presented to the President? It was upon the instant of the President that the mediation process was finalised. Was he expecting the Otumfuor to present his report to Parliament? What kind of nonsense is this? Amidu is fully aware a lot of properties and other resources were destroyed during the conflict. Oh yes, he is fully aware. And if the President proclaimed GHC1bn support over 3 years to restore Bawku to an appreciable level, why is Amidu crying fowl and talking about corruption? What does Amidu mean by 'gargantuan political scam'? Is he insinuating Ghanaians have been scammed politically? How? It is not immediately clear what kind of scorpions Amidu has in his mind but I can say that this is not a critique but an insult to Ghanaians. Whereas we cherish peace based on truth, Amidu has sprung up to stoke dissent. Of course, he may be pushing for a situation where the Kusases and the Mamprusis will continue to be at each other's throat until both sides no longer exist. But, we, the people of Ghana will not sit on the fence and cheer any such annihilation. Martin Amidu must retract his outburst and apologise to His Majesty Otumfour Osei-Tutu for his unsavoury statement about him. Amidu sat there watched the two factions feud in Yendi, and never once tried to help solve that feud. Amidu also watched the two factions in Bawku feud for decades, and never once made any suggestions that would help the parties to reach a peaceful resolution. Now that Otumfuo has made an effort to resolve the Bawku issue that has taken a toll on the country, Amidu suddenly is spitting out constitutional verses. Those feuding parties in Bawku were feuding long before the constitution in question was drawn. Those folks need peace, not an academic hornet's nest that will do nothing but incite the parties to continue with their senseless fighting.

I was so glad after Otumfuor released his report and thought that finally peace was on the way until I read on the net about the rejection of the report by the Mamprugu overlord whom Otumfuor kept referring to him as my brother when delivering the final report. So now we know some of the people behind the scenes making it harder to bring peace to Bawku. The sad thing is that he and his immediate family might be living in Accra or Tamale whiles he denies the poor and vulnerable in Bawku or Nareligu peace. What a wicked world we live in.
