  While what I am going to offer will not bring the dead back to his family, I believe Ghana must take a look at what we do going forward if we truly believe the Ghanaian life is worthy of our outrage and sorrow.

  Private Ghanaians who go out of Ghana to seek higher education, training and employment do so willingly; decisions they make are the collective responsibility of the families. I think SSNIT must setup a term-life insurance policy for the duration of the scholarship for Ghanaians on government scholarship with premium payable by families of scholarship recipients.
  
  Families of scholarship students must be vested along with the government of Ghana. Families must be willing to make sacrifices paying monthly premiums on life insurance policies of their respective wards. The current system is a loose- loose situation for both government and family and we cannot continue and call ourselves learning from past mistakes.
  
  My suggestion is premised on the dignity and value of a Ghanaian life and a more gentle and soft landing for government and families. We buy insurance because of the unknown and we sacrifice to pay monthly premiums for the very tiny chance that when tragedy strikes we are not ruined financially on top of the loss of life and property.
