Please Kwahu Tee, the Dormaa manhene, Nana Agyemang Badu 1 has handled this case before ooo and as far back as 1957 ooo. Please when the crisis between Kusasi and Mamprusi erupted, in 1957, Prime Minister Kwame Nkrumah established the Opoku Afari Committee to go into the case. Lawyer Seth Opoku Afari who chaired the committee was from Worawora, Oti Region. Other members of the Committee were two chiefs and they were Nana Agyemang Badu 1, Omanhene of the Dormaa Traditional Council and Lure Kanton 111, Tumu Koro. Please their findings were that the Mamprusis were settlers in Bawku and affirmed Abugurago Azoka 1 as the Bawku chief. Mumuni Bawumia , a Mamprusi and then MP for South Mamprusi East and others appealed to the high court. The high court set aside the findings of the Opoku Afari Committee report on technical grounds. They appealed against the ruling of the High Court at the Appeal court, then the highest court of this country. The Appeal court presided over by Sir Kobena Arko Korsah the first Ghanaian Chief Justice. William Bedford Van Lare and Granville Sharp overturned the high court ruling and affirmed Abugurago Azoka 1 as the chief of Bawku..So please in 1957/58, the Opoku Afari Committee made up of Lawyer Seth Opoku Afari Nana Agyemang Badu 1, Omanhene of Dormaa Traditional Council and Lure Kanton 111, Tumu Koro affirmed Abugurago Azoka as the Bawku chief and in 2025, Otumfour Nana Osei Tutu , the Asantehene has also affirmed Abugurago Azoka as the chief of Bawku. So please the Dormaa Omanhene has also played his role before. Please every generation and its leader. Now the chief who is the leader of this generation is Otumfour Nana Osei Tutu, the Asantehene.

Securing financial aid for the country when governments failed to do so, settling the seemingly unresolvable Dagbon case, offering numerous scholarships to the needing, providing water to villages inter alia.

If you send a matter to court and it is not ruled in your favour you can travel all the way to the Supreme Court but once the Supreme Court rules, you accept it and move on even if you don’t agree. Of course at the Supreme Court your can apply for a judicial review which the Mamprusis did but before the case could be heard they withdrew it and the Supreme Court told them that the window for review in the future was shut forever if they withdrew but they still decided to withdraw it and the Supreme Court made their inability to come to the Supreme Court in the future a ruling which is binding.

The Asantehene must be commended for his mediation in such a complex case and it is time for the government to implement his findings without fear and favor. The Mamprusis can have their own Chief as well as the Kusasis with either Chief having his palace in different towns like in Bawku and Neleirugu respectively.
If these two ethnic tribes cannot abide by the recommendations then the government must issue a decree to govern their respective authorities. The government of Ghana shouldn’t be held ransom by the inhabitants of Bawku . If peace fails, force must apply.
It is time for the MPS and other notable personalities in this region to make their presence felt by living among their own people instead of living in Accra .
