They have no locus on ICAG. They don't regulate ICAG, their revocation or restoration amounts to nothing, no effect. ICAG is the only professional body mandate by law to regulate Accounting profession in Ghana, read Institute of Chartered Accountants Act, 2020(Act 1058). GTEC off late wants to always be in the news, whether for the wrong or right reasons, they care less and it's so wrong, they can do better than this!

@Nana Kwaku I think it will do you good if you have facts of the issues before making your inputs. It was in October that GTEC first wrote to Oduro Osae to stop using his unearned PHD from ALMIGHTY SMC and its twin brother Nicuragua University.
Oduro Osae came out challenging GTEC on that release but nothing was heard about it.
Fast forward on Monday ICAG appointed 'DR' Oduro Osae as their new CEO
GTEC then reminded ICAG that Oduro Osae cannot used acadamic title DR and therefore has withdrawn its recognition of ICAG.
Then ICAG responded to GTEC by issuing a new appointment letter to Oduro Osae this time round using MR instead of DR and accepted all what GTEC asked them to do, and based on that GTEC accepted that and restored its recognition of all ICAG certificates.
Yes Oduro Osae is one person I respect a lot having listening to him for sometime and yes he is capable of getting his PHD but from SMC adabraka.
And those who are saying GTEC has no mandate of ICAG are you really sure about that?
I m not sure GTEC can get up and just issue warnings and stuff when the know they do not have mandate to do so, considering legal implications.

Defenders, defenders, defenders. How can we grow as a country? If something is wrong, we should all support and say that it is wrong. Mr. Osae is a lawyer, but he has not initiated any legal action against GTEC when his attention was drawn to GTEC's communique on 7/10/2025. This is part of what he "Please be assured that, as a lawyer and a firm believer in the rule of law, I will take all lawful measures to protect and exercise my rights in this matter" on 27/10/2025. He is claiming to have multiple PhD in political economy from SMC, the Universidad
Central de Nicaragua (UCN) and the University of London (search led to a Wikipedia entry). He couldn't provide certificates from the Universidad Central de Nicaragua and the University of London to substantiate his claims.

Looking at his publications, per this article, Mr. Osae has published over ninety papers on accounting, auditing, and governance issues. From the search, he is not on Google Scholar, but on ResearchGate; he has seven (7) papers and six(6) citations. And one (1) h-index.

Well, of late, a lot of people are publishing in journals, but a key question to ask is about the index of the journal. Indeed, some researchers publish in predatory journals, Emerging Source Citation Index, and the Science Citation Index/Social Science Citation Index.
The Science Citation Index/Social Science Citation Index journals are the top-tier journals, and even under it as apllied also to predatory and emerging source citation index, are also categorised into four quartiles: Q1, Q2, Q3, and Q4. Journals in Q1 and Q2 are considered top-tier journals, while the lower-tier journals are classified as Q3 and Q4. Q1 and Q2 journals have a higher impact factor than Q3 and Q4-ranked journals.

Besides, if you guys know lecturers from UPSA and UCC, why don't you name them here, or report them to the regulator? I know for a fact that the regulator has issued a communique to all heads of tertiary institutions to deal with the holders. Please kindly check their directives on 20/10/2025 and 05/11/2025, respectively. They made it clear that holders of such terminal degrees cannot be used for teaching, appointment, or career progression within Ghana's tertiary education system. So you guys shouldn't be spectators but real citizens to report those who are still using unrecognized certificates to teach.

So on what bases is the GTEC saying those certs are not valid?

Let the holders of those be bold and go to court. Simple!

Ghana is not for one man who goes around hunting people, trying to let the world known that he is doing a so called "clean up" for his parochial own interest.
