The GBA is for all lawyers of Ghana it is not for NPP lawyers as some think. It also strengthens the cedi against the dollar, inflation...so you don't need to artificially pump billions of dollars to create artificial strong cedi. Instead use it to subsidise petrol. Cedi will stabilise naturally.

A little bit of education for the latter day generation: when the clarion call was made for the sons and daughters of the land to come together and brainstorm together to carve out a living and workable constitution for the nation, some notable bodies boycotted it. Foremost among these was the GBA whose members thought it was a sacrilege to sit among people they perceived as ordinary and low class. In fact, many people aligned with the UP tradition turned down invitations to be part of it. The only UP person I remember who attended was former President Kuffour. I’m all for it.

I have found reading most of the write up to be rather interesting.I only wish to point out that,The British Medical Association and the British Law Association are more like a Trade Unions for the respective professions.They regulate the training and practice behaviours of their members and,do not necessarily,get involved in the day to day politics.Considering Ghana mirrors the British way of doing things,the GBA in particular,appears not to follow the same route as the British and from my view point,they have seemingly,aligned themselves to a political party.Needless to say,I have not an iota of sympathy with them at all. A few of them who would benefit from this disintegration are stupidly supporting the politicians to destroy this prestigious association. I feel sorry for this nation.
