Why can’t they pay the stipend of these poor students? Government is a continuum. Sense you are so stupid to talk about NPP GOVT in this matter. Every new government goes through the same cycle but it is how you manage the situation which makes the difference. Remember that the Uk government has a High Commission here and they monitor all the narrative, big talk and the plenty talk. If we are doing so well please sort out the students now. The situation is depressing and disgraceful. Go and see how those young boys and girls are living in the cold weather. God help Ghana. History will be written and the truth will eventually come out.

Many of them simply used the state to move their families outside so that at the end of the so called 4 years stay in UK, they could gain immigration points to stsy permanently. The students who are hiding under annonimity should speak plainly and Ghanaians will know that their fathers, uncles and spouses were either chief executives, ministers or MPs under NPP. Even fugitive self-made Ken Nana Yaw Ofori Atta's daughter had a scholarship to study at duke university for a BA social science degree offered in all Ghanaian university.

If the state is not in a financially sound position to finance overseas scholarships it must terminate the work of the Scholarship Secretariat until further notice. Rumours have it that the Scholarship Secretariat is owing students who have completed their courses .This is unacceptable. What is happening is a disgrace to Ghana.

Governance is about setting priorities. Forget about any other thing; not even the 24-hour economy promised! When Akufo-Ado said he would implement freeSHS even if had to borrow money, he delivered his promise. The NDC government is known to always struggle when it comes to scholarship payments. It's a historical fact! All scholarship recipients (including some known advocates of NDC) from 2016 to 2024 received commulative payments atleast every three or six months. We still remember that under JM's first term he couldn't post trained nurses for the whole of the term, and newly posted teachers were paid 3 months for 1 year work, but JM could afford to buy V8 vehicles for chiefs across the country, and invest in guinea fowls which vanished into thin air. Another historical fact! I hate nobody, but stand for the truth. If the NDC does something worthy of praise I will praise them. But, certainly not this fake cedi appreciation. I would expect a stronger cedi to be able to pay all workers, and scholarships, drive businesses, improve living standards. Failure to do so exposes a fundamental flaw which takes deep wisdom to identify.

They were on study leave with full pay, according to them. I have returned, although I was funded by USA funds. Unfortunately, none of my colleagues who benefited from Ghanaian funds never returned to serve Ghana. So, what is so important about thinking about publishing the withdrawal of these ungrateful people from programmes in UK. Who cares !!!!!!

First, they have to investigate how they came by the scholarship. We saw what happened in the scholarship secretariat during the period of that corrupt and dirty regime of Akuffo Addo. How scholarships were doled out to undeserving people. Some are even ministers and appointees relatives. We also saw how the Executive Secretary of the Secretariat was corrupt, collecting bribe and issuings to those who could pay. Aside that, we also witnessed how these scholarships were skewed in favour of a certain tribe. If you were not Agyeman, Asare, Boateng, Kwesi, etc but Agbodo, Gomda, Wumpini, Adongo, etc you were factorized out of the equation. We also saw how these schoalrships went to the political class: Adjoa Sarfo, Gifty Oware, Mathew Prempeh, etc.

The students should quickly create a special platform whereby each and every one of them individually submits his or her case WITH ALL DOCUMENTS to the High Commission for transmission to the Chief of Staff.

The Chief of Staff should quickly put in place a mechanism to verify the facts electronically, and a payment plan worked out with the Institutions.

I do not quite get the rationale for petitioning the UK Government.It is got fvck all to do with them.
I fail to understand why Government engages in a project and seemingly,not plan adequately as to how the project would be funded. The bottom line is,if the Government cannot adequately support students sent to study abroad,they should stop sending the students abroad.
Shame onto all those involved in putting the said students in the predicament they are in.
