How did these CHINESE operators get to the site where they were arrested coming all the way from CHINA? For my money they should be tried and if found guilty lengthy custodial sentences should be slapped followed by Deportation after serving their sentences.

The Chinese criminals just keep flocking into Ghana because they've heard that Ghana is has a soft heart for Chinese galamsey operators. The Ghana needs a to take a stronger stand against galamsey, for it's obvious by the continued influx of Chinese into Ghana to engage in galamsey that the current approach to fighting against bears very little teeth. The government needs to start investigating how these criminals came by the land that they're destroying, and go after those folks who sold the land to the Chinese. The government also needs to look into the asset forfeiture and confiscate any bank accounts, businesses and properties owned by the arrested Chinese criminals. Finally, all foreign galamsey operators must be prosecuted and, if found guilty, be made to serve their prison sentences in Ghana before being deported. The government needs to sit and draw a real plan to attack galamsey, for the current plan obviously isn't working.
