They can go ahead and do their own boarding housing, charge their own fees.Making them autonomous will reduce the burden on the state bcoz all their staff salaries will be taken off Govt Payroll. Parents who feel they are well to do in the society can take their kids there. What the state is doing currently is Hide & Seek.They are using state resources to support the affluent in the society who kids may After all not be intelligent.

These school fair better because their standard allow them to screen out poor performing student prior to ADmision and they also have a strong old student associations that support the School. Yes, children of rich people, foreigners will attend these schools but brilliant children of poor people also get to announce their presence. There is less side shows at boys' only/Girls' only schools. The focus is on Academics. That is why they do well. Holy Child, Wesley Girls, Ahantaman and others are also great schools.

Similarly, the Kumase prepending Mpraeso SHS, is part of the OKESS entry, since OKESS (Osei Kyeretwie) is in Kumase.

As a matter of fact they have corrected some because this morning when I read you posting the first time, we had an entry like Mampong Konongo-Odumase SHS. That Mampong is indeed part of Amaniampong SHS, as correctly seen in the updated list.

When I saw Sekondi New Juaben SHS and then observed that the previous school is St. Johns, I immediately found here the issue is !!

This ranking doesn't make sense. Why no based on five to 10 year WASSCE performance as the basis instead of NMSQ. The fact that a particular school did not participate or perform well in the NMSQ doesn't mean that the school is not good. Also, as raised by others, why compare some SHS which are science bias to some that are art bias. Also, some of the schools are less endowed compared to others. Let each of these schools have a level playing field before a fair comparison can be made. Let's stop this kind of unncessary comparison and rathet invest in infrastructure and human resources to bring the other apar. If each year one school is always rated higber than the others then we definitely have a very serious problem in tbe country. If you assembly already good students what magic is it if they perform well. Why not assemble the less fancy ones, give them the same opportunities and they will equally excel and even do better.

Out of the 4 key parameters used in the methodology and assessment criteria, only 1 (i.e. GES category assigned to schools) makes sense to many of us.
Typical example is Asanteman SHS and Our Lady of Grace SHS respectively. The former has been one of the best for decades in terms training and results and most of the schools mentioned in the list does not match their performance and training.
The latter, Our Lady of Grace, is currently (if not the best) one of the best SHS in the country. To gain admission to the school is even based on reality and performance. The facilities available and the quality of education is second to none.
I'm sure there are some very good schools out there in some other regions whose names are not in the list but are way better than MOST of the schools in the list.
Let the researchers come out with better research methodology and assessment criteria next time.
