Ghana is a small country with a little population. Bigger countries with very large population were not going to allow that. Also the Arabs who did not want to be made to join the rest of Africa because they were not Black in color, have Islamic religion going to respect and allow a Black person to be their President. So, Nkrumah was just on a Wild Goose chase and wasted Ghana’d money stupidly. At the time of his death, Ghana has almost become bankrupt and no Developed Western country was prepared to grant any loan to Ghana. The Military Rilers who came after Nkrumah were not good. Rawlings who came to power for 20 years wasted too much money on his stupid PDC and PNDC. killing innocent Military Officers and forcing many rich and Business people to flee from Ghana and die in exile. Rawlings was so nasty and stupid that he confiscated all Ghana Fifty Cedis notes. That wrecked the business in Ghana.. So, before Kotoka and his Military and Police Officers booted Nkrumah out of Office, Ghana was an empty pot and fully indebted.

Life became very hard and the value of the Cedi had gone down and prices of goods had skyrocketed. That was why most of the factories he built became redundant. He became a dictator and arrested all the opposition leaders and put them in prison without trial and formed the Young Pioneers to turn Ghana into a Communist State and established a One Party State to the dislike of many people in the country. Imagine that Mahama tells Ghanaians the NDC was going to be the only party in Ghana and start to imprison the opposition leaders, what do you think will be the reaction of the citizenry? That was why there was a wild jubilation in Ghana when Nkrumah was overthrown. Kwasi Pratt and his colleagues don't want the youth of this country to know what triggered Nkrumah's overthrow. Ghanaians opted to be free not to be enslaved in their own country. To sum it all, Nkrumah was so power drunk that he didn't even want the Europeans to stay in the country and do their work. UAC,UTC and other big companies were all ransacked and he drove the white men away and put half-baked Ghanaian intellectuals in place and they collapsed the country. Ghana College, Tamale, Government secondary school, Tamale, Bawku, Yendi, Lawra, Wa, Nalerigu Damongo secondary schools etc.. You are right Kwame Nkrumah was a visionary leader. He did all this in less than 9years.
What a big loss he has been to the nation!!! His compulsory policy of education for all children gave some of us especially from the north the opportunity to go to school. Otherwise my father had no clue about education and didn’t see the need for his children to go to school.

Ghana College, Tamale, Government secondary school, Tamale, Bawku, Yendi, Lawra, Wa, Nalerigu Damongo secondary schools etc.. You are right Kwame Nkrumah was a visionary leader. He did all this in less than 9years.
What a big loss he has been to the nation!!! His compulsory policy of education for all children gave some of us especially from the north the opportunity to go to school. Otherwise my father had no clue about education and didn’t see the need for his children to go to school.

Don't forget Acherensua Secondary School (Achisco) which was the only secondary school in Ahafo until 1970 when Busia converted Hwidiem and Mim Training Colleges to secondary schools. You can easily identify the schools by the similar buildings, which were constructed under the Education Trust Fund. Nkrumah was selfless, and a visioner. Arthur, Yeboah and the other coup leaders who were killed were Nkrumahists. Nkrumah and his supporters had been plotting his come back. They staged a coup to bring him back and they failed. If Kotoka shared similar views, he would have assisted them and they would have spared him.

Boakye Djan was related to one of them and avenged his uncle’s death by killing Afrifa.

In fact, it was a wonderful opportunity to step into his shoes and anyone who is a student of the politics of the time would find Afrifa's alibi too convenient and too good to be believed.

Assuming without proving that Afrifa was the grand architect of the events that transpired shortly after Kotoka's suggestion to reinstate Nkrumah, did the former make any attempt to bring Nkrumah back?

Who was the greatest beneficiary of both Kotoka's and the guitar boys' elimination??

Who immortlized Kotoka posthumously (obviously he did not impose himself on the airport) for a crime against Ghana by associating his name with an Airport built by the Nkrumah and thereby legitimizing that act of treachery???

It is convenient to make Kotoka the obvious scape goat and he deserves it, but we must also be honest enough to tell the story in full. Afrifa was co-conspirator extraodinaire and perhaps even more guilty than the man whose name he imposed on a people after his murder without his consent.

This historian is good but sometimes makes up things. An example is that Okomfo Anokye gave a Silver Stool to Mampong and deemed Mampong to be second to Kumasi. NOT true. There was no Silver Stool and Asante was a federation of independent states but the Asantehene came from Kumasi because it was bigger in area, population and wealth. Juaben was the second most powerful and Okomfo Anokye even planted a tree to remind Kumasi never to march on Juaben. They, nevertheless, did twice when Juaben was becoming as wealthy as Kumasi. Juaben eventually settled in New Juaben, Koforidua. Juaben is the constitutional head of the Oyoko clan whose members sit on the Kumasi stool and the other Oyoko states of Mampong, Nsuta, Kokofu,Bekwai and Kumawu. This is from the foremost historian of Ghana, Professor Edu Boahen,Ashanti Research Conference, 1964, from the research in 1817 by Bowditch.

Kotoka had no idea that Major Afrifa and Busia had a hidden political agenda. And those two realized that as long as Kotoka remained in the junta, their devious agenda of pushing Busia as the person to eventually run Ghana could not be realized. With Kotoka eliminated, Busia and Afrifa then could move ahead with the reason why they conspired with the USA to overthrow Nkrumah, and that was to enable Busia to acquire political power through the backdoor. Once Kotoka was dead, Afrifa began to issue edicts that constrained the rights of Busia's potential challengers and granting Busia a government position that allowed him to unofficially campaign for Prime Minister while others were to wait in silence. Once the the decision was finally made to hand over the country to civilians and a date for political campaigns was set, Busia was suddenly left with no real challengers other Gbedemah. Gbedemah had a disadvantage since Busia had been exposed to Ghanaians by criss-crossing the country as head of the Centre for Civic Education. It therefore was no surprise when Busia handily won the election, given that the well-known CPP politicians had been barred from running for office. Thus, the coup of 1966 wasn't about restoration of democracy but rather a diabolical scheme to bring Busia into power with the help of Afrifa.
