A man who made life a bit easier and luxurious for women. For the sisterhood.

Right after leading the country into a broke state, due to his lavish lifestyle, he composed a slogan to calm the people and challenge foreign governments he owed.

Little did he know, that, his “ yen tua” chants, which translates to “ we won’t pay” doesn’t threaten foreign bodies.

Kutu Acheampong was born on the 23rd of September, 1931 in Kumasi. He became a head of state , through the removal of the then Prime Minister, Abrefa Abusia who was democratically elected.

He accused the Abrefa government of corruption and depreciation of the Cedis.

After he assumed office, he formed a political
Party called the National Redemption Council also known as the Supreme Military Council.

Acheampong was famous for promoting the use of home grown food. It was under his regime, that, “operation feed yourself” came about, where, citizens are softly forced to eat what they grow instead of relying heavily on foreign imports.

Under Kutu, the Kaneshie market was established. He also invested into affordable housing like the Dansoman Estates. The Coup maker had his achievements in Accra and his region, Ashanti.

Despite the positives he exhibited, Kutu is known for being a serious Bathalzar who nearly finished all the women in the Gold Coast, leaving most poor men angry and frustrated.

Reason is that, he took away their girlfriends and make them feel like Queens . A simple flexible “ distin” from Acheampong earned millions of women Mini Golf cars from the Kutu Government. While he made a coup to develop Ghana, he rather made huge investments into the pot of women.

Kutu was forced to embezzle state funds due to his lifestyle and corruption. Corruption, which he overthrew Abrefa for, became trippled in his era.

In 1978, he was overthrown in a coup by Akuffo. He wasn’t harmed, but placed on house arrest. On the 17th of June 1979, Kutu was shot to death, in a firing squad for corruption and embezzlement.

Recently in Ghana, Ken Ofori Atta, who is now a potential ex convict in America had called out the Ashanti’s. In his words, “ while they, the Akan akyems were fighting for Ghana, the Ashanti’s were eating cocoyam in the farms”. This was why they sidelined the Ashanti Region between 2017-2024 in their regime.

Do you think, this was one of the emotional reasons why the votes for the NPP declined in the Ashanti Region? Did they feel offended by their Fellow Akan’s utterance ?

A journey of 96 miles from Kumasi to Western Region in "Wato nkyene" took 9 to 10 hours under Acjeampong'regime which I had to endure. Meanwhile, those running GNTC, UTC etc stores were diverting goods for their wives and relatives to sell in the open markets at inflated prices. This is what I went through and this is precisely why i will not shed a tear for any of those rulers who were shot. .Afrifa and Kotoka did not shed a tear when they murdered Gen Bawa in cold blood at his home.. I do not give a rat's arse about your Manhattan nonsense! Those who keep whingeing about those awfull leaders were the beneficiaries of the "Kalabule System" I have nothing in common with them. The February 24th, 1966, coup was welcome and during that day, the mood in Ghana changed with a breath of fresh air because Nkrumah sent people to prison on mere hearsay through his "Young Pioneer movement".

Why was Kotoka named after the airport because he was killed around the area and NLC decree made that changes which is still stand as legitimate. NDC is doing the name change due to stupid politics and nothing else.

General Ignatius Akwasi Kutu Acheampong's enlistment in the Army dates back to 1953, Commissioned in November 1958 with the service number GH/77, he served as a Platoon Commander at the Third Battalion of Infantry, Adjutant Second Battalion of Infantry, Commanding Officer Sixth Battalion of Infantry, Commanding Officer, Fifth Battalion of Infantry and Commander First Infantry Brigade.

General Frederick William Kwasi Akuffo enlisted in the Ghana Armed Forces on September 11, 1957.
After an initial six-month training at the Ghana Military Academy, he left for the Royal Military Academy in the United Kingdom for overseas training and subsequent commissioning.
Assigned to the Normandy Company, he was commissioned on July 27, 1960 with the service number GH/137 and held numerous appointments such as Commanding Officer Parachute Battalion, Commanding Officer Sixth Battalion of Infantry, Commander Border Guard Unit, Commander Second Infantry Brigade, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff.
Lieutenant-General Akwasi Amankwa Afrifa's enlistment coincided with that of Akuffo.
He trained at the Royal Military Academy and was assigned to the Normandy Platoon likewise Akuffo.
Commissioned in 1960 with the service number GH/136, he served as Brigade Major at the Second Infantry Brigade, Commanding Officer of the Second Battalion of Infantry and Commandant of the Military Academy and Training School.

Major-General Edward Kwaku Utuka trained at the Royal Military Academy and was commissioned in 1961 with the service number GH/220, he commanded the Second Battalion of Infantry, served as Commander of the Ghana Military Academy, Commandant of the Military Academy and Training School and later commanded the Border Guard Unit.

Major-General Robert Ebenezer Abossey Kotei entered the Royal Military Academy as part of Intake 25 on September 17, 1958 and was assigned to the Dettingen Company.
Commissioned on July 22, 1960 with the service number GH/139, he served as Military Secretary, Commanding Officer Fifth Battalion of Infantry, Commander First Infantry Brigade, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Staff.

Colonel Roger Joseph Atogetipoli Felli attended the Royal Military Academy and was commissioned into the Signal Corps on August 2, 1963 with the service number GH/511.

He served as Adjutant at the Signal Regiment, Director of Communications and later acting Commanding Officer of the Signal Regiment.

The dashing officer also held the position of Commissioner for Works and Housing, Trade and Industry, Finance and Economic Planning and Foreign Affairs.
