  Please according to Professor L H Ofosu Appiah, Dr Nkrumah was the first nationalist to address a rally in the North in about March 1949 and he and CPP leaders started wearing the smock. Please page 79 of The Life and Times of J B Danquah by Prof L H Ofosu Appiah. And on 6th March 1957, Dr Nkrumah, Komla Agbeli Gbedema, Kojo Botsio, Archie Casely Hayford and Nathaniel Arzacko Welbeck wore the smock as he declared " At long last Ghana your beloved country is free for ever...." But please the kente is our national attire.Where ever Dr Nkrumah visited and they had to attend dinner, Dr Nkrumah and his team put on the kente. Dr Nkrumah put on the kente with jumper.
