It frames the accident as a mechanical mishap or bad luck, rather than a preventable safety incident. Where a tyre burst occurs within the speed limit, the critical issues are the driver’s response, vehicle maintenance, loading, training, etc. Ignoring these removes human agency, creates an impression of blamelessness, and limits public understanding of road safety.
Accident reporting that focuses only on what happened instead of why it happened weakens accountability and misses an opportunity to educate the public on preventable risks. Driver competence and vehicle condition are not side details — they are central to understanding such incidents.
We wish all those injured a speedy and full recovery. Where valid insurance coverage exists, affected passengers must be given their full and lawful entitlements without delay.
