  It seems our leaders are sleeping on the fact that this galamsey, if not checked now, will cost the nation very dearly one day. The people handling the toxic chemicals with no proper training of protective gear are killing themselves slowly and as for the water conditions, you can attest for yourself. Soon it may hit the food, if it hasn't already...so how long will it take to wake up and save the generation behind us from detrimental effects of our inactive response to stop this galamsey once and for all? As yaanom usually say, when it hasn't hit your house or doorstep, you pay it no mind but it may be too late when it hits your doorstep.

Just educate them on the dangers of the chemicals involved to themselves, the waters, food etc. How many abled people do you know would willing put their had a sauce pan of boiling water? Why? They are aware of the implications thereof. This issue should not be politicized at all and should involve every level of authority in the nation. Educate the masses very well on this subject and I believe they can turn the tide. And the leaders must act likewise.

  Ghanaians were warned during the election that NDC is not the option but. Reducing the price of cocoa knowing its adverse effect on our farmers is not the best way. The government should have absorbed the cost one way or the other and pay the farmers the existing price because this is not the first-time cocoa price had fallen on the world market.
  
  Right now, Kwakye Ofosu is sitting on 78million cedis budget and the best he does is using money to silence critics of the government while our hardworking have been left to fend for themselves.
  
  Another election is just around the corner, and we shall see if really Ghanaians have short memories.

  I think it’s the government plan to reduce cocoa producer price to discourage farmers to abandon cocoa farming. When this is done, the farmers will have no incentive to continue farming and sell their lands for galamseyers. They want to make sure goldboard succeed at the expense of cocoa farmers. The government feels cocoa farming is outdated now.
  Apart from that, it doesn’t make sense for the government to reduce cocoa price to put farmers into such economic hardship.
  If the world cocoa price has gone down the government should be able to cushion the market so that it have adverse on cocoa farming in the future. Anything either than that is a deliberate policy by the government.
  How can you treat our farmers who have sustained the country over the years. It’s a big betrayal, all in the name of gold,
  We must rise up and fight for the poor farmers who have toiled for the country with their blood.
