THIS IS A FAR WORTHIER CAUSE THAN BUILDING A SO-CALLED “NATIONAL CATHEDRAL” WHICH ONLY ALLOWED FURTHER PLUNDERING OF THE NATION’S SCARCE RESOURCES. At least Prez Mahama's government has shown some interest in the plight of teachers in Ghana.
THE KEY PILLARS FO A NATION'S DEVELOPMENT ARE:
1.PRIORITIZING EDUCATION by investing in the infrastructure for schools: building quality schools along with adequate amenities. Quality training of teachers and ensuring that when they pass out of college they are paid well and on time. Teachers should be given strong incentives to encourage them to progress up the career ladder. They should be provided with good housing so that they will be incentivised to stay at their postings.
2.PRIORITIZING HEALTHCARE, again by building infrastructure especially in the PRIMARY HEALTHCARE SECTOR and ensuring adequate healthcare personnel who are well paid and incentivised. Linked to a nations level of health are the universal provision of clean drinking water and good sanitation for all.
3.CONSTRUCTING AN EXCELLENT NATIONWIDE NETWORK OF ROADS AND RAIL LINKS whose first effect would be to dramatically increase trade and commerce within a decade and result in the rapid increase in the standard of living of the average citizen
4.RESPECT FOR THE RULE OF LAW AND ACCOUNTABILITY for all workers but especially for those in public positions of responsibility.
