It led to price gouging making products and services in Ghana way more expensive than our neighbours. A person thinks twice before saying they have increased prices by 10,000 cedis than saying "Ooh, 1 Ghana".

There was no chance in hell that I would have bought kenkey if it was expensive because I can cook banku for the day in 16 minutes on a gas stove.

We applaud the Govt for help to appreciate the cedis, but prices are not going down. The Govt reduce taxes and even eliminate some of the taxes, but the businesses refuse to reduce their price.

Some people do not understand simple economics here. It's good the cedi is doing well but in every situation you have advantages and disadvantages. The days the cedi was weak, imports were expensive for Ghanaian business and so imported good were expensive a scarce. As the cedi gained strength our imports became cheaper and our export expensive.
Now, if you import more you create jobs for people in those countries you import from. If you export you create jobs for your own people. There is therefore the need to strike a good balance for you currency. Not too low and not too high so both import and export can balance or equilibrium. Thank you

Unfortunately the Cedi has strengthened to a point where traditional exports are declining in value as receipts cannot cover costs such as the basket weavers and the timber industry. We are now importing more and exporting less which leads to loss of jobs in Ghana and a greater dependence on imported goods. This is not a good economic situation.

That was why he did not tell Bawumia to leave the dollar free to rise because that is what will enable nurses and teachers to be posted and paid. Bawumia we want a high dollar rate. $1=Ghc25. That will enable us to sell all our farm products. Bawumia we don't like what you are doing oooo. Why should you arrest the dollar? You see the effects of eating dog meat with palm wine?
