Where did the difference go? They should be paid their fair share now as they've contributed much moreto the economy than most of us but we've siphoned their share of resources to the cities.

Ghana College, Tamale, Government secondary school, Tamale, Bawku, Yendi, Lawra, Wa, Nalerigu Damongo secondary schools etc.. You are right Kwame Nkrumah was a visionary leader. He did all this in less than 9years.
What a big loss he has been to the nation!!! His compulsory policy of education for all children gave some of us especially from the north the opportunity to go to school. Otherwise my father had no clue about education and didn’t see the need for his children to go to school.

May GOD ALMIGHTY give him wisdom , anchor and victory to be able to do this again with sustained efforts.
Don't forget Acherensua Secondary School (Achisco) which was the only secondary school in Ahafo until 1970 when Busia converted Hwidiem and Mim Training Colleges to secondary schools. And other schools like Yaa Asantewaah Secondary School, Konongo Odumasi Secondary School, and many more. You can easily identify the schools by the similar buildings, which were constructed under the Education Trust Fund. Nkrumah was selfless, and a visioner. Up to the present, nobody has come out to accuse him of corruption or kalabule. He left no mansion or assets. KNUST was called Kumasi College of Science and Technology before independence. Please don't twist facts. Yes Nkrumah established Ghana Educational Trust (GET)secondary schools through out the country as well as factories most of which collapsed even before he was overthrown for lack of raw material. At the time he was overthrown, there was serious shortages of basic items needed to make life reasonably comfortable that was why people jubilated when he was overthrown. Nkrumah himself admitted this shortages and said from Conakry in Guinea that if Ghanaians wanted essential commodities, he would not have built schools and factories. He had good intentions for the country but faltered in many areas and that did not sit well with many Ghanaians

Ghana College, Tamale, Government secondary school, Tamale, Bawku, Yendi, Lawra, Wa, Nalerigu Damongo secondary schools etc.. You are right Kwame Nkrumah was a visionary leader. He did all this in less than 9years.
What a big loss he has been to the nation!!! His compulsory policy of education for all children gave some of us especially from the north the opportunity to go to school. Otherwise my father had no clue about education and didn’t see the need for his children to go to school.

May GOD ALMIGHTY give him wisdom , anchor and victory to be able to do this again with sustained efforts.
Don't forget Acherensua Secondary School (Achisco) which was the only secondary school in Ahafo until 1970 when Busia converted Hwidiem and Mim Training Colleges to secondary schools. And other schools like Yaa Asantewaah Secondary School, Konongo Odumasi Secondary School, and many more. You can easily identify the schools by the similar buildings, which were constructed under the Education Trust Fund. Nkrumah was selfless, and a visioner. Up to the present, nobody has come out to accuse him of corruption or kalabule. He left no mansion or assets. Ghana College, Tamale, Government secondary school, Tamale, Bawku, Yendi, Lawra, Wa, Nalerigu Damongo secondary schools etc.. You are right Kwame Nkrumah was a visionary leader. He did all this in less than 9years.
What a big loss he has been to the nation!!! His compulsory policy of education for all children gave some of us especially from the north the opportunity to go to school. Otherwise my father had no clue about education and didn’t see the need for his children to go to school.

Don't forget Acherensua Secondary School (Achisco) which was the only secondary school in Ahafo until 1970 when Busia converted Hwidiem and Mim Training Colleges to secondary schools. You can easily identify the schools by the similar buildings, which were constructed under the Education Trust Fund. Nkrumah was selfless, and a visioner. Nations grow. They reflect. They refine the symbols that tell their story to the world. Today, with the renaming of Kotoka International Airport to Accra International Airport, we take one such step in our continuing democratic journey.

This decision is not about rewriting history. Ghana’s history—its triumphs, its trials, its moments of unity and division—remains ours in full. We do not deny it. We do not erase it. But as a constitutional republic that has worked diligently to strengthen democratic governance, we must ensure that our national symbols reflect our enduring values.

For decades, our main international gateway bore the name of a military figure associated with the 1966 overthrow of our first President, Kwame Nkrumah. That chapter of our history is complex and will continue to be studied and debated. Yet Ghana today stands firmly as a democratic state—one that believes in the sovereignty of the people, the supremacy of the Constitution, and the peaceful transfer of power.

Our airport is the front door to our nation. It is where investors arrive with confidence. It is where members of our diaspora return home with pride. It is where visitors first experience the warmth and stability of Ghana. That gateway must represent unity, not division; continuity, not interruption.

By adopting the name Accra International Airport, we have chosen a civic identity that belongs to all of us. Accra is our capital. It is a symbol of national life, of commerce, of culture, of governance. It does not belong to any political tradition or moment in time. It belongs to Ghana.

This change is a statement of maturity. It affirms that while we respect our past, we are guided by our present constitutional order and our aspirations for the future. It signals to our citizens and to the world that Ghana’s strength lies in democratic stability and inclusive governance.
