See rare photo of President Mahama's father meeting Queen Elizabeth II

A rare photo has surfaced on social media showing Emmanuel Adama Mahama, the father of current President John Dramani Mahama, meeting Queen Elizabeth II during her state visit to Ghana in 1961.

The visit was aimed at strengthening ties within the Commonwealth of Nations at a time of growing global security concerns.

The two distinguished figures met during a durbar organised in Tamale to mark the historic occasion and engage with leaders from across the country during the presidency of Kwame Nkrumah.

Adama Mahama, a prominent figure at the time, had the opportunity to meet the British monarch, and the pair were seen sharing smiles during the encounter.

President Mahama’s father was dressed in a white suit with a black tie as he engaged the Queen in conversation during the durbar.

Queen Elizabeth II’s visit played a significant role in reinforcing Ghana’s commitment to the Commonwealth as member states worked toward shared goals.
