GWCL will not in the first instance provide any service line to places where water is needed, you will consult with them on that and they are only interested in benefiting from you the customer. Is your interest not to align with the shareholders? They will take months to provide a single meter and it’s treated as a favor, we should be paying attention to how people are able to do such things in the lens of the company. Individuals do not hold power to entirely do that.

Unfortunately our useless courts will drag and adjourn the case over and over and turn this into a foolish case which everyone will forget and the criminal will go free. Our judges are not at all serious. They will adjourn cases for months and simple criminal cases drag on for decades. The Chief Justice should wake up and track timeliness and timelines of how long it is taking to complete criminal cases and under which judges. Those judges should be removed who are helping criminals to evade justice by delaying and rather making the complainant come to court for years on end.

Illegal connections often happen because every household needs water and electricity to live. When communities don’t have reliable access through official channels, some people look for other ways to get these essential services.

This raises an important question: what is preventing Ghana Water and ECG from expanding their services more quickly to areas that need them? If service delivery were driven purely by private companies whose revenue depends directly on installing meters and connecting customers, they might have a strong incentive to provide those connections faster.

It’s also worth noting that illegal connections usually cannot happen without some level of involvement or oversight failure within the utility system itself. Addressing the issue therefore requires looking at both access to services and accountability within the institutions responsible for providing them.
