His argument was that even though Ghana is a secular state, if Muslims were allowed to stay home and enjoy their Ramadan feast, government machinery will still run smoothly but converse is not the case. Initially they were given a day but now they have succeede in getting two. I know very soon they will fight to get a holiday for the birthday of their prophet.

Muntaka must come clear with payment modalities and timeframe regarding 2025 rent allowance owed by the government which he himself issued a press release 2 weeks ago that government has released funds to clear these arrears, its been more than 2 weeks since the press release from the interior minister was captured by Ghana's media houses.
hon minister our landlords are on our neck since the press release was issued. some of us sneak out dawn and return late night because our landlords are chasing us since you announced to the general public that the money has been released for onward disbursement. the 3 security service heads must also come clear with this rent allowance issue.

This is what happens when African countries follow Western practices blindly without thinking of future repercussions. When Ghana adopted Christmas and New Year's as official holidays, its leaders should have had the foresight to see that someday the large Muslim population in Ghana will also demand holidays to celebrate its religious events. This is only the beginning. The country will very likely see more of these religious demands seeping into the school system, especially with government officials who now see it ha=as their responsibility to quietly unload religion-tinted regulations that they somehow believe are needed to level a playing field. Whatever happens, Ghana should not move in the same direction as t=Nigeria did in allowing religion to dictate its national policies, for the result of that is the silly religious banditry that now is unfolding across Nigeria. And citizens have to be more vocal in standing up against the political leaders as these leaders think they can unilaterally use their governmental positions to carry out their religious agenda.

It should be alarming for Ghanaians to hear their President open stress that the country should be building churches and spreading the word of God. How can that President his his Muslim appointees in check when they too start advancing their Muslim agenda by the government to establish new religious holidays to benefit Muslims? Clearly, Muslim have a plausible reason for demanding that they too be assigned two days of holidays to celebrate their religious events. Having said so, the country has to put an end to any more religious holidays; and the government should desist from getting into the business of spreading the word of God or building centers for a religious group to use for pilgrimage preparations, for that should be the function of religious groups and not that of government.
