  I think Ghanaians are making mistake on how we came in contact with the British.
  The British Merchants,Governors and soldiers have been with us since the 17th century.
  I don't know of any chief or chiefs who agreed with them to settle on our coast since 1621.
  The first treaty signed between the local chiefs and the British was the Bond of 1844.
  The primary interest for the British in the Gold Coast was the slave and gold trade.
  There were many other Europeans involved in the slave trade,especially the Dutch who had many Castles and Forts.
  The Dutch recognised the authority of local chiefs and signed different treaties including building permits etc.
  I think 6th March,a day for independence is a craft designed to hide the dark side of British presence in the Gold Coast.Tnx.
