Lowly-paid Ghana workers don't even get decent pensions to sustain them in retirement, so why should these highly paid people be entitled to their salaries and perks in retirement when they made more than enough to save for their retirement?

Legislature
- Speaker of Parliament
- Deputy Speakers of Parliament
- Members of Parliament (MPs)

Judiciary
- Chief Justice
- Justices of the Supreme Court
- Justices of the Court of Appeal
- Justices of the High Court

Council of State
- All members of the Council of State

Key Point
These officeholders are constitutionally guaranteed pensions or salary continuation determined by the President, acting on the advice of a committee and in consultation with the Council of State. This is distinct from ordinary public servants, who rely on SSNIT contributions for their pensions.

How can we do this to ourselves? So, others deserve full salaries even after retirement. God save this country. Most of these officeholders steal during their tenure and still go home with full salary.

In most cases their would be pension,providing they have the pension age.After that there is in some countries,a superannuation fund ,where the employee gets a percentage of their salary,paid by their employer into this fund The funds are invested on behalf of the employee,and can't be touched until retirement..... many retire on 6 figure sums .

Its a fact that the majority of countries around the world are members of the International Labour Organization (ILO).
They therefore have the obligation to pay some lump sum and monthly payment to their workers who are on retirement.
And also when a retiree do any type of work its not for free, thus he was she is paid for the work he or she does, either in the private or public sector.
The matter is that even some Ghanaians retire before going abroad to serve foreign government and companies. In those countries its provided that not depending on the age of the worker, he is entitled to some sort of gratuity.
So I don't know what Professor Prempah is talking about.
After all those monies that are paid to retired workers are monies they contributed for many years which the state invested and made profit on.
What is the hew and cry over the peanut that are being paid to some of us.
