Sam George you owe NPP apology because you are the most useless Minister in this regime. You rarely know your work. Get the Telcos to up their games. SIM card registration was to link all SIM cards in Ghana with owners Identification that would tell who the person or company is. The problem in Ghana and the world over is with identity of a person since the age of stolen identity.

The 2 previous SIM card registration or voter card identification registration were but a waste of time and fraud perpetrated on Ghanaians. The exercise by Kelni VG company under the leadership of Ursula Owusu Akufo, ex minister of communication was particularly wasteful and a fraud.

For as long as Ghana claims to have a National ID system with a biometric database backend, any registration exercise that is not authenticated through the National-ID database is a fraud and a waste of time. Ghana's new pasdports are linked to the National-ID database for authentication so why would voter-id or SIM cards not do so?

It is important, therefore, that all SIM cards in Ghana undergo a new registration that will result in a SIM card database linked to authentic ownership verified via thr National ID system; its simple and all Ghanaians must support the exercise so Ghana can be one of the few nations, globally, that can resolve and stop Identity theft or cyber identity fraud.

It is the prerogative of government to ensure that any process put in place to ensure inter-operability is secure and robust. The previous sim-card registration exercise was full of flaws especially if one cannot use his or her biometric data for identification. Those who have true caller applications on their phones cannot identify any names associated with certain calls. There is therefore the need to tighten security through the spectrum by linking your data to the one being managed by the NIA. It is exactly what the minister seeks to do. If the UP policy director understands this simple narrative, then he should appreciate the concept. For some period now, it is only NPP surrogates, apparatchiks, front and back benchers who claim they do not understand simple government policies and propound very stupid theories to government to implement when we collectively rejected them for their poor performance. And what does the UP policy director mean by 'unproductive'? Here he runs berserk. This registration ultimately prevents phone scammers from scamming you. Your financial transactions will remain intact most of the time. Would-be scammers could easily be traced or located by the law security forces. In order to get a better clarification so as not to confuse his students, the director needs to contact the Communication ministry for further discussions. We want a better Ghana now.
