You see how these politicians steal public funds and send their children abroad for education. Later, they advise them to switch nationality or avoid returning home. When they remain in foreign countries for too long, and the system there no longer respects them, they suddenly decide to come back home—only to enter politics and continue stealing. Until laws are enacted to stop this exploitation of the poor, these political rascals will keep gambling with our destinies while they and their children live comfortably elsewhere. We are not foolish. Why didn’t Naa Torshie advise her daughter to return to Ghana and practice law here? In a few years, this young woman will likely appear somewhere in Ghana, asking us to vote for her because she supposedly understands the problems we face.

Ghana’s justice system is shambolic and a shame to the conscience of well-meaning Ghanaians. Imagine a system that jails thieves for more than seventy years simply because the most dishonest chief justice states publicly that he is afraid of the thief who will come to take revenge on him, and decided to cage him until the chief justice dies. Do you call this a normal justice system?
