Our kind of democracy is too expensive. Why do we have an institutions like the council of state whose decisions and orders are not binding but only advisory. It's too expensive to keep all of these people on the public purse. I hope the constitutional review committee Recommended their removal. Besides that the kind of multiparty democracy where we have to have big budget for elections only to choose leaders is not smart and breeds corruption. Politicians have to have a lot of money to have control in their parties and subsequently win the national elections. The stealing will never stop with this kind of arrangement. Simple developmental policies goes through a lot procedures before they get implemented only to be abandoned by a future government midway. Its all about greed and wastage. The Swiss choose leaders but it's less acrimonious and with barely no wastage in that process. Power there isn't concentrated at the presidency. Locals vote on developmental project by the local assemblies. Accountability is upheld in all levels. I think we copied blindly in 1992. This kind of democracy makes the politicians richer and too powerful and touchable with virtually no accountability. The politicians will never vote a change of the current situation because they're the ultimate beneficiaries. We're fucked.

I reported the matter to the police and I advise this is a civil case, so it will be pursued as a civil case rather than criminal.

May be the volume of money involved in this case might be outrageous but it is still a civil case.

You have no knowledge in law. This falls under the law of contract. It does not hover on crime but breech of agreement. The person can sue in court as a civil case and not a criminal case. The court is right.

And there re so many case law to that effect. The fact that you are a council of State member does not exonerate you from scrutiny. If not every corrupt Ghana, how can a council of State member doubling in business transactions in same government he serve. Under the last NPP govt a similar thing happened, the is dead.
