Draft policies to expand and best improve early child development in every Ghanaian basic schools. In China, 10 year old boy is teaching himself physics privately. No wonder Ghanaians hardly think out the box.

  And what is the ministry going to do about kids who spend 9 years of their early life to go through basic school up to JHS3, but fail the BECE exams miserably, through the negligence of the the ministry to provide adequately for their education?
  In this 21st century, we still hear of one teacher running the whole primary school - from Basic 1 to Basic 6 - and teaching all the subjects, including Spanish and French, for example. At the same time, not only do we have the ministry and GES offices across the country fully staffed all year around, but we also have graduate teachers who have completed their National Service two to four years previously still waiting for their offers for employment to teach! This is not forgetting the existence of the Unemployed Graduates Association! And to compound the problem, this sole teacher for 6 classes would sometimes go several months without the basic renumeration!
  
  These are issues we need government to set policy on, without wasting sleep on students who decide to challenge themselves by studying hard in order to attempt the BECE prematurely. It may interest the minister, if he would bother to investigate he issue, that rather most of the candidates who attempt the BECE ahead of their time pass and pass well, and end up being placed in the best schools!
  
  Not even that! The minister would do us all some good if he could investigate and resolve the reasons why some kids would go through Basic 1 to 9 and still be unable to write their own names legibly, let alone write a simple letter or story!

  Okromansah, while I do not agree with the Minister why do parents of these children not allow them to stay in their respective schools to do the BECE but smuggle them into other schools to do it. If the parents know what they are doing is legal why do they pay up owners of other schools to forge documents to qualify their kids. The argument that should be made is that if a child is identified as exceptional that child should be allowed to take t the exam ahead of time. But with a very corrupt Christian country like Ghana, that provision will surely be corruptibly abused. Before the introduction of this bogus JSS education system, the number of times you took the exam counted towards your admission. So if your first attempt was poor it will be added to your second attempt and averaged. If the law is enforced that the child's form 2 results, if turn out to be poor, will be added to his form three results, many parents won't take the risk of getting their kids to take the exam ahead of time.

  ​Private School Achievers: Students ready by JHS 2 who consistently pass with honors as private candidates.
  
  ​International Learners: Year 7/8 students operating on different academic timelines.
  
  ​Private Candidates: Prepared learners blocked solely by a lack of formal JHS 3 records.
  
  ​The Fix: The Ministry should adopt competency-based verification. Quality education should be measured by a student's performance, not just a calendar.

  Parents knew that once the child writes the exams he or she will be placed in a school, then they will pick it up from there. Many mushroom schools have registered students from jhs 2 from private schools. This situation is worsen by the fact that last year placements were on the highest bidder. Very good grade students were placed at their 3rd choice leaving room for more admission at a cost not by merit. Check for the minister to audit last year placements he will be shocked, but as new government if that is repeated people will expose them with water tight evidence.

  This is bullshit!!! Is this what you should be deliberating on? If a prodigy decides to register and write the final exam earlier than his/her year of finishing, what is wrong with that? This has been in the system since the 'O' and 'A' Level days. Stop this hypocrisy and finding everything wrong with what you have inherited. Concentrate on what will make our education better and not individual decisions to write early of later an examination.
