  These groups adopted the Akyem name because they owe allegiance to the Okyenhene. For instance, Kotoku, the second son of Denkyira, once controlled lands stretching from Bomfah to Dampong, with Dampong as its capital. During the reign of Katakyie Opoku Ware, these lands were taken from them, leading Ohemaa Dokuaa to offer refuge at Osino. However, after misbehavior and the Gyadam war, she ejected them. Conversely, Akyem Wenchi, known as Oseawuo or Kyidom, interceded on their behalf, granting them Nsuayem—now Oda—to settle. Additionally, some lands were seized by Opoku Ware from Bosomtwe, prompting others to seek refuge. The Okyenhene's ancestor, Ohemaa Dokuaa, allocated land at Akyem Tarkwa near Swedru for refugees from Juabeng displaced by conflicts involving Kumasihene and the Asantehene, under a lease agreement managed through the British, with annual rent of one pound per acre until Kwame Nkrumah abolished it to favor New Juabeng.
  
  In the Eastern Region, the Okyenhene, Ofo, established the OOkuapemhre through the Akwamu state, overseeing 16 districts—although no traditional ruler holds direct land title after division into three paramountcies. The Kwahu area encompasses six districts. Regarding Kotoku and Bosome, their lands are minimal, merely granted parcels. They are distinct Akan groups, separate from the Okyenhene’s lineage, which originates from Adansi, while Kotoku comes from Denkyira. They are different peoples with different origins. Why can't others claim the Okyenhene title? Has anyone prevented them? Dandruwa shege, indeed.
