The biggest problem of the African is not the Slave Trade, Christianity or the West. Our stupidity and misplaced priorities are the causes of our backwardness. There is s no single small town without an industrial zone in Europe. People who come by some money don’t build the biggest palaces. They set up businesses selling milk, cheese, potatoes, wine, metal fabrication, farming equipment and packaging materials, to mention a few. These small beginnings mature into million dollar companies by the second or third generation. In Ghana, particularly among the Akans, millions in dollar equivalent and time are buried in graves alongside the corpses. It happens every week. Afterwards, we cry for roads, hospitals and drainage. Fools.

I live in one of the Assin towns and I have personally visited the palace and the town. It's neat. The comparison with Damesua is also unfounded. Damesua has paved majority of its roads. In Assin Kushea, nature is very much conserved.

But is your wealth as clean as your town? It's so sad in Ghana we tout people for their wealth without knowing the actual sources. As a result, almost all Ghanaians are using any means, genuine or foul, to acquire wealth because in the end it is the wealth but not it source that matter to Ghanaians. No matter the size of your palace or the cosy of your bed, rich or poor, the length of the grave is 6 feet.
Biggest palace, yes. Didn't Nana think about our maintenance culture after he's gone? Will the next chief has the same kindest as this chief? In typical Ghanaian settings, after 50 years this palace would be in a sorry state - it's in our blood.
