Elsewhere I have seen underground tunnels fitted with the best lighting systems and an improved security being used.Footbridges are often very expensive to maintain.

In the USA, every built structure, especially a structure for the public use are maintained regularly. That's why you hardly see pot holes. In Ghana they don't have pot holes, they have ditches on the roads. Terrible !

Regular maintenance is needed for every public structure. Sit in a trotro and I bet you will come out injured from an exposing metal. Nobody follows up on anything, everything is dilapidated.
