It matters who you marry, and it also matters to some extent what family you marry into. (I ALWAYS COUNSEL YOUNGER FOLK WHERE POSSIBLE TO AVOID MARRYING INTO FAMILIES WHERE THERE IS VERY LITTLE RESPECT FOR INTEGRITY OR WHERE A LARGE PROPORTION OF FAMILY MEMBERS HAVE A RECORD OF MARRIAGE BREAKUPS AND DISHONEST DEALS). Also marrying into a very prominent, very wealthy family come with their own issues but there is no space here to elaborate this further. This fact should not inhibit marriage if the individual’s character and values are given top priority.
NEVER MARRY A PERSON WHO IS DISRESPECTFUL, SELF-CENTRED, DECEITFUL OR UNTRUTHFUL DURING THE COURTSHIP PHASE.
A man or woman who grew up in a home where they were brought up spoilt, pampered or made to feel entitled and special can turn out to be a nightmare to live with in the marital home. Such individuals may become disrespectful very disrespectful to their spouse. This is no way criticism of Pastor Ankrah or how he brought up his kids but in general parents who have a very high social profile need to be even much more careful not to be seen to be interfering or getting caught up in their children's marriage affairs. PROBLEMS OF THIS NATURE ARE NOT UNUSUAL IN THE MARRIAGES OF CHILDREN OF CELEBRITIES AND WELL-KNOWN PERSONALITIES. SIMILAR ISSUES CAN ALSO BE ENCOUNTERED WHEN AN ONLY CHILD IS EXCESSIVELY SPOILT, OVERINDULGED, PAMPERED AND TURNED INTO AN IDOL BY THEIR PARENTS. SO, PARENTS PLES EXERCISE GREAT CARE HOW YOU RAISE YOUR KIDS IF YOU FALL INTO ANY OF THE ABOVE CATERGORIES.IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT CHILDREN IN THESE CATERGORIES DO NOT GROW UP FEELING THAT THE WORLD REVOLVES AROUND THEIR WISHES AND THEIR WANTS AND EVERYONE ELSE NEEDS TO FIT IN TO SATISFY THESE CRAVINGS. These spoilt brats (and that is what they are) when they marry tend to demand their way or it is the highway as the saying goes.
Mind you I am privileged to know a few prominent and very wealthy families both Ghanaian and foreign who brought up their kids to be very disciplined, self-reliant and very respectful towards others. They have no sense of entitlement because of their parent’s high net worth or social prominence.
