This year group thing does not solve the problem. There are so many issues that needs to be curtailed.
1. Too many nurses/midwifery schools in the system. That needs to be controlled. even the current hospitals cannot accommodate nurses from Govt owned/operated nursing schools only let alone nurses from the Ministry approved Private schools. It is insane looking at the number of private nursing schools.
2. Even for the Government owned schools, yearly intakes should be controlled and geared towards the needs of hospitals in the country.
Government should not take responsibility of posting/employing nurses. That should be the responsibility of the nurse himself or herself. You finish school, pass your licensure exam and you apply to hospitals for appointment/hiring. If you are not lucky you don't blame the Govt. That is the practice in the Advanced countries.
3. You only pay trainee allowance to encourage people to enroll if you have shortage. Once the shortage is over you take away the "bait" (the allowance). You have too many year groups of surplus nurses waiting to be employed and still giving incentives for people to take up nursing. Pure political stupidity.
