  The responsibility is on the sick person or his relatives to inform the school. After 10 working days, the school is right to conclude that the person has vacated post.

  Unfortunately Sir. She erred in her decision. The school may have acted wrongly and unsympathetic to the plight of the staff by not checking up on her and ensuring the staff submits the required documentation to avoid audit queries whilst still validating her monthly. However the decision later to retrieve monies paid her after the auditors had flagged the payment is legal and right and the school was not at fault with that. She equally could authorize the auditors to strike out that query and monies refunded to the sick staff in her capacity as chairperson of PAC. The law is the law and she has to be cloaked with that knowledge
