North Africa, especially Maroc, Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt have good education systems. Even Francophone countries have a more efficient system.

Noah Komla Dzobo deceived the PNDC for a change in the education system after a visit to southern Africa, and the educated illiterates in the Education Ministry and Ghana Education Service went along stupidly without any studies.
Jerry couldn't have imposed his will and demurred when the "giants" of education took decision and hailed the proposition. This is where we are.

On the other hand, you can't be treating teachers as beggars or strangers in their own country with pittance (And this sometimes with excessive delay), and expect them to kill themselves for the unrewarding job, when politicians are stealing all the money.

Ghana’s commitment to education and youth development is already evident in flagship programs like Free SHS and ongoing TVET reforms. To build on this foundation, there may be value in studying models that closely integrate formal learning with paid, structured work experience from an early stage.

Countries such as Germany and Switzerland operate “dual training” systems where students split time between school and approved companies, graduating with both a certificate and 2-3 years of practical experience. Key features that could be adapted to our context include:
• Co-designed curricula: Employers help shape what is taught, ensuring skills match available jobs. • Earn-while-you-learn: Students receive stipends during training, improving access and dignity for technical careers. • Clear progression: Trade qualifications connect to higher education, so skills and academics aren’t separate paths.
A phased Ghanaian pilot — perhaps with priority sectors like agro-processing, construction, and energy — could complement existing TVET centers and deepen private-sector participation. This would align with the goals of the Ghana Beyond Aid agenda and AU Agenda 2063 on skills and youth employment.
We stand to benefit from dialogue with countries using these models, adapting only what fits Ghana’s institutions, culture, and labor market.
