The state of the bus involved in the accident
Ten passengers have sustained varying degrees of injuries following a collision between a VIP bus and a diesel trailer at Mile 44 near Suhum on the Accra–Kumasi Highway.
According to a report from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Suhum Municipal Fire Station received a distress call at exactly 4:24 am on April 13, 2026.
A seven-member rescue team was immediately mobilised and dispatched to the scene, arriving within minutes to begin rescue operations.
In an update shared by the Eastern Regional Public Relations Officer of the GNFS on Facebook on Monday, April 13, 2026, it was indicated that the bus was carrying 33 passengers at the time of the crash.

Out of the passengers, nine males and one female sustained injuries. However, no one was trapped in the wreckage.
“The crash involved a VIP bus and a diesel trailer, reportedly caused by wrongful overtaking by the bus. There were 33 passengers on board, with 10 casualties (nine males and one female), though no one was trapped,” the Service confirmed.
The report added that although both vehicles sustained partial damage, fire officers secured the scene, ensured safety, and successfully concluded operations before returning to base.
