Carlos Queiroz vows to serve Ghana with passion as he takes over Black Stars

Newly appointed Black Stars head coach, Carlos Queiroz has pledged to approach his role with “gratitude, responsibility, and humility,” describing his appointment as a mission to serve Ghana’s football heritage ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In his first message to Ghanaians following his appointment by the Ghana Football Association, the experienced Portuguese tactician emphasized his deep respect for the country’s rich football history and his commitment to its future success.

“It is with a deep sense of gratitude… responsibility and humility that I embrace this new chapter with the National Football Team of Ghana,” Queiroz said in a statement released by the GFA.

The former Real Madrid and Portugal national team coach highlighted his extensive global experience, noting that football has given him “a lifetime of challenges, lessons, and unforgettable journeys.”

Queiroz was clear in his intentions, insisting that his new role goes beyond contractual duty.

“This is not just another job , it is a mission,” he stated. “And I am ready to give everything of my experience and knowledge once again, in service of the game and the happiness of people.”

He further described Ghana as “a nation of talent, pride, and footballing soul,” expressing confidence that unity, discipline, and ambition will be key to meeting the high expectations of fans.
