Ghanaian businessman and philanthropist Ibrahim Mahama has funded life-saving medical procedures for two children, offering renewed hope to their families.

According to reports shared by GHOne TV on April 15, 2026, Mahama, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of Engineers and Planners Company Limited, paid $40,000 to cover a kidney transplant for 13-year-old Jeffery Boakye.

Jeffery, a Grade 7 pupil at Zion Praise Educational Complex in Maduma in the Ashanti Region, had been battling end-stage kidney disease and required urgent surgery in India.

He had been receiving treatment at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he underwent hemodialysis three times a week while awaiting a transplant.

His condition gained public attention after a report by GHOne TV’s Ashanti Regional correspondent, Isaac Justice Bediako, was aired on April 10, 2026. Six days later, Ibrahim Mahama stepped in to fully cover the cost, enabling preparations for Jeffery’s travel abroad for the procedure.

In a separate intervention, Citi FM also reported that Ibrahim Mahama funded a $15,000 brain surgery for 14-year-old Hadeya Mohammed, a first-year student of Ghana Senior High School (GHANASCO) in Tamale.

Her condition, which had begun to affect her hearing and education, was highlighted in a report by Channel One TV on April 6, 2026. Medical experts had recommended urgent surgery abroad, prompting public appeals for support.

Confirming the development, Rafik Mahama, Special Aide to Ibrahim Mahama, told Channel One News on April 15, 2026, that full payment had been completed, clearing the way for her treatment in India.

“The full payment has been made, and she can now travel to undergo the surgery in India. We wish her a speedy recovery,” he said.

In total, Ibrahim Mahama’s interventions amount to $55,000. The gesture has been widely praised for providing critical relief to two families and highlighting the impact of media-driven advocacy in mobilising support for medical emergencies.
