Managing Editor of the Insight Newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr, has questioned the rationale behind the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) decision to appoint Carlos Queiroz as head coach of the Black Stars.

According to him, he is concerned about the Portuguese manager’s familiarity with Ghanaian players and his ability to select the best among them for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The veteran journalist also raised concerns about Queiroz’s ability to build a strong squad that will be competitive at the Mundial and deliver a good performance.

7 facts you must know about new Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV, Kwesi Pratt criticised the timing of Otto Addo’s dismissal and questioned why brilliant local coaches were overlooked for the job.

“On what basis will he build a team, and how will he do that? How many Ghanaian players does he know? That is the problem. All these years that Otto Addo was working with them, it had to be at the last round that they found out Otto was not a good coach. It is so annoying and obscene. The worst part is we have Ghanaian coaches who have done excellently well,” he said.

Carlos Queiroz’s appointment as Black Stars coach has been met with mixed reactions.

While some believe his experience makes him suitable for the role, others have expressed concerns about his competence, particularly considering his age.
