Prof Opoku-Agyemang being welcomed by Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe upon her arrival in Spain
Ghana's Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has arrived in Barcelona, Spain, to take part in the 4th High-Level Meeting of the Initiative “In Defence of Democracy,” a global forum focused on strengthening democratic governance and international cooperation.
She was received on arrival by Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain, Kalsoume Sinare Baffoe, together with members of the Ghanaian community in Spain.

According to a post by the Presidency on Friday, April 17, 2026, “The vice president is expected to join global leaders in high-level discussions aimed at strengthening democratic governance and advancing collective efforts to safeguard democratic values.”
The “In Defence of Democracy” initiative continues to serve as a platform for dialogue among nations committed to safeguarding democratic values and promoting inclusive governance systems worldwide.
The forum, hosted by the Spanish government under Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez, will bring together heads of state and senior officials from countries including Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay, and Spain.
