A family member of slain Immigration officer Stephen King Amoah has hinted that the case may soon move to the High Court.

In a video shared on X by JoyNews on April 17, 2026, the family member said the presiding judge has indicated progress in the proceedings.

'I didn't kill my friend' – Bright Aweh finally speaks

Speaking at the Kaneshie District Court, the family member said the judge indicated progress in the long-delayed proceedings.

“Today at the Kaneshie District Court, the judge assured us that after a long delay, the case may move to the High Court by May 4, 2026, for trial to finally begin,” he stated.

Bright Aweh, identified as the key suspect and Thomas Zigah, alleged to be his accomplice, have been charged with conspiracy to murder and murder in connection with Amoah’s death at Ashongman Estates in Accra.

Amoah went missing in July 2025 after leaving home to meet Aweh at Ashongman Estates. His burnt body was later discovered in a drain near Abom Junction.

Police investigations suggest the meeting stemmed from a financial dispute between the two men, following a WhatsApp exchange that reportedly included images of cash.

Aweh is alleged to have told investigators he gave Amoah GH¢500,000 to settle a debt and expected the balance to be returned. However, inconsistencies in his account reportedly led to his arrest.

A search at Aweh’s residence allegedly uncovered a camouflage outfit with suspected bloodstains and a wooden pestle wrapped in polythene.

Following further investigations, an initial kidnapping charge against Aweh was dropped, and he was instead held on suspicion of murder. Zigah was later arrested in connection with the case.

Police say a third suspected accomplice is on the run.

The case has, however, been adjourned to May 4, 2026.
