The Ghana Police Service has promoted nineteen senior officers
The Ghana Police Service has promoted nineteen senior officers to their next ranks following approval by President John Dramani Mahama, acting on the recommendation of the Police Council.
The promotions, announced on the Service’s official Facebook page on April 19, 2026, were carried out on March 17, 2026, by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, together with members of the Police Management Board (POMAB).
In the statement, the Ghana Police Service explained that the ceremony, held at the National Police Headquarters in Accra, forms part of ongoing efforts to recognise merit, dedication, and long service within the institution, while strengthening leadership across key operational and administrative levels.
Among those promoted from Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) to Commissioner of Police (COP) are D. Luke Asue-In-Yeng Zakpaa, Frederick Agyei, Duuti Tuaruka, Arthur Osei-Akoto, Darko Offei Lomotey, Eric Ken Winful, Barnabas Nambont Nasumong, and Desmond Owusu Boampong.

The IGP and members of POMAB congratulated the officers and urged them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and integrity in the discharge of their duties, noting that the promotions reflect both individual achievement and the Service’s commitment to excellence.
