President Mahama has rejected claims of 'dumsor' in Ghana
President John Dramani Mahama has dismissed concerns that recent power interruptions across the country signal a return to “dumsor,” insisting that the outages are part of deliberate measures to strengthen Ghana’s electricity supply system.
Speaking during the Resetting Ghana tour in the Northern Region on Sunday April 19, 206, President Mahama explained that the interruptions are necessary to allow for critical maintenance and upgrades aimed at ensuring long-term stability.
“These outages are not dumsor. They are necessary steps to ensure a more reliable and stable power supply for all,” he stated.

He emphasised that, unlike previous periods of erratic and unplanned blackouts, the current outages are controlled and strategic, designed to prevent larger system failures in the future.
“What we are doing is a planned intervention to improve the efficiency of our power infrastructure and avoid unexpected breakdowns,” he added.
The President also assured citizens that government agencies are working to minimise disruptions and keep the public informed about schedules where applicable.
