Ghana has reaffirmed its position as a prime destination for investment and industrial growth as the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, delivered an address at the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) Business Forum in London on Monday, April 20, 2026.

Speaking on the theme “Africa’s Next Chapter: Building Resilient, Diversified Economies,” she highlighted Africa’s rising role in the global economy, noting that the continent remains the world’s fastest-growing investment frontier with expanding opportunities for strategic partnerships.

The Minister emphasised that Ghana is leading this transformation through policies aimed at shifting from raw material exports to value addition and industrialisation.

She cited efforts to process at least 50% of Ghana’s cocoa locally, as well as plans to expand gold refining capacity to retain more value within the economy.

She further noted the strong performance of Ghana’s non-traditional exports, which reached a record US$5 billion in 2025, driven largely by processed and semi-processed goods, describing it as evidence of a growing and diversified economy.

Highlighting improving macroeconomic indicators, she pointed to sustained growth, easing inflation, a strengthened external position, and fiscal consolidation as signs that the country is on a firm upward trajectory.

She also underscored Ghana’s strategic advantages, including stable democratic governance, a business-friendly legal framework, and its role as host of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, positioning it as a gateway to a market of over 1.4 billion people.

She reaffirmed government’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for investors, referencing recent reforms under the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority Bill, which introduces incentives, strengthens investor protection, and improves the ease of doing business.

Concluding her address, Ofosu-Adjare extended an invitation to global investors to participate in the upcoming Ghana-UK Investment Summit, urging them to take advantage of opportunities in Ghana and across Africa.

The address forms part of government’s broader efforts to deepen international partnerships, attract investment, and accelerate Ghana’s industrial transformation agenda.
