They are the architects and godfathers of so much the environmental destruction we have witnessed in Ghana. NPP sowed the seeds which allowed galamsey to get completely out of control. Before 2017, only 90 mining licenses had been issued in 30 years. Under Nana Addo, 2000 mining licenses were issued in just 8 years. Wontumi, our chiefs and Chinese with their excavators and changfan machines are all responsible. Now we are facing kidney diseases and birth defects due to mercury poisoning. What a shame.

Galamsey is a national suicide, in 30 years Ghanaians who would be living then are going to suffer. Before AGC went underground to mine gold, they first found gold at the surface. Even our forefathers who we claim were illiterates and uninformed, did not destroy our forests. Today, with all our academic credentials, look at what we are doing to our forests. The Whites who colonized us then protected our forests, today almost 70 years of independence, we have given our gold to the Chinese on a silver platter! We called our ancestors pagans, yet they protected our forests with their paganism. Today we have more churches than schools and factories, look at what we are doing to ourselves. Don't our pastors know the forests belong to the Almighty God and as such must be protected? So far as you eat food grown in Ghana, you are eating contaminated food. We shall make the money from gold alright, but we are not going to live long enough to enjoy our ill-gotten wealth.
