56-year-old man remanded for allegedly raping two KNUST female students

The Asokore Mampong District Court has remanded a 56-year-old security guard, Lloyd Kwaku Boateng, into police custody following allegations of rape, extortion and intimidation of two female students of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), according to a myjoyonline.com report on April 22, 2026.

According to the report, Boateng, who worked at Ayeduase Roman Catholic Junior High School, is accused of using his position to harass and assault students who visited the school compound at night.

Prosecutors say he targeted couples, intimidating them before allegedly separating the men from their partners and assaulting the women.

On February 13, 2026, Boateng allegedly confronted a 22-year-old student and her boyfriend, accusing them of misconduct.

He reportedly assaulted the boyfriend, seized their belongings, and demanded GH₵300.

Left alone with the complainant, he allegedly threatened to humiliate her publicly before dragging her into a classroom and raping her.

Two months later, on April 4, 2026, another student, aged 23, reported a similar ordeal.

Boateng allegedly held her hostage overnight, threatened her with a knife, raped her and forced her to transfer GH₵150 via mobile money.

He is also accused of taking nude photographs of the victim and threatening to release them if she reported the incident.

Boateng was arrested on April 13, 2026, after community members intervened when he attempted to target another victim.

Medical reports confirmed physical trauma in both cases, though Boateng has denied the allegations in his caution statement.

Chief Inspector Samuel Agyare, the prosecutor, urged the court to remand the accused while investigations continue. Duplicate dockets have been forwarded to the Attorney General’s Office for advice.

The case, presided over by Hilda Esther Wryter, has been adjourned to May 8, 2026.
