Italian football has been thrown into turmoil following revelations of a major prostitution and trafficking investigation that has entangled dozens of top-flight players.

Authorities in Milan have dismantled an illegal network allegedly operating under the guise of an event planning company, with more than €1.2 million in assets seized and four suspects placed under house arrest.

The operation, reportedly run by Emanuele Buttini and Deborah Ronchi, organized exclusive “after-match” parties in luxury venues across Italy and destinations like Mykonos.

These high-end packages offered access to nightclubs, accommodation, and escort services, costing thousands of euros per night.

Investigators revealed that over 100 women of various nationalities were exploited by the network.

Many were allegedly forced to live under strict conditions, paying for their own accommodation while surrendering a significant portion of their earnings to the organizers.

The scheme is believed to have been active since 2019, even continuing through COVID-19 lockdown restrictions.

Wiretaps and financial records uncovered links to prominent figures, including Serie A players and even a Formula 1 driver.

Names such as Alessandro Bastoni, Rafael Leão, Dušan Vlahović, and Riccardo Calafiori reportedly appeared in investigative documents.

However, authorities stress that these individuals are not under investigation and have not been charged with any crimes.

The probe also uncovered the use of nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas, during these gatherings.

While not banned by anti-doping regulations, its use has previously led to disciplinary issues in football.

Despite the scale of the scandal, Italian law does not criminalize the purchase of sexual services. Legal action is instead focused on those accused of organizing, exploiting, and profiting from prostitution.
