Premier League giants Chelsea’s 3-0 defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion on April 21, 2026, set an unwanted record, marking their first five-game losing streak since 1912.

The Blues’ run of defeats includes a 1-0 loss to Newcastle United, a 3-0 defeat to Everton, another 3-0 loss to Manchester City, a 1-0 defeat to Manchester United, and the latest 3-0 setback against Brighton.

Chelsea’s poor form is not only about losing matches but also their inability to score, despite the quality of attackers in the squad.

Man City beat Arsenal to cut lead to three points

This marks the first time in 114 years that the club has endured such a terrible run, further compounding their woes and highlighting how poor the team has been.

The Brighton game was the worst of the lot, as Chelsea failed to register a single shot on target despite efforts from Liam Delap, Alejandro Garnacho, and others who struggled in the final third.

The Blues’ form has piled huge pressure on head coach Liam Rosenior, who has come under scrutiny for his tactical approach and game management.

Despite calls for his dismissal, Rosenior remains in charge and is likely to finish the season, though Chelsea’s inability to secure a Champions League spot could spell doom for his future.

After 32 Premier League matches, Chelsea sit seventh on the table with 48 points, trailing Brighton, Liverpool, and Aston Villa in the race for Champions League qualification.
