Abronye reportedly flown abroad for medical treatment

The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, has reportedly been flown out of Ghana for urgent medical attention following a deterioration in his health.

The update was shared in a post on X by Jasper Ziggle on April 23, 2026, indicating that his condition worsened after his recent arrest.

Abronye DC was arrested on April 13, 2026, by the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service over allegations of false publication and issuing threats against a judge.

Reports suggest that his health declined significantly after his release from police custody, prompting the decision to seek medical care outside the country.

He is said to have travelled with his wife, Portia Acheampong, and Dr Edwina Baffoe James, who are overseeing his treatment.

Further details regarding his condition and location have not yet been officially disclosed.
