  Indeed one of these politically motivated choices the bank undertook and probably the main one causing this loss was to do with stabilising the CEDI across the international market. Our currency is artificially being propped up and rightly so as long as we can afford to doing so and whilst gold remains artificially high then we can offset this positive increase against whatever loss the central bank has made in supporting our currency. The real exposure will come when gold prices drop back to what was the norms 12-18 months ago which I hope it doesn’t.
