Yes, that was the time when students walked that long distance from the Old Site around KYIRITWE mountain to the New Site very close to Amenase. I lived with my parents at Maame Akua Fokuo’s house just near the SDA Church opposite the Zongo.
I know DESPITE very well and his cousin KWAME SEFA was my schoolmate too. DESPITE was the a POOR NOBODY until he joined as a Senior Manager of the ASANTE KOTOKO Football team. His Family House was just about the TOWN PARK. I lived at Wiamoase for more than a decade. They are very nice people but even when you are married and at a responsible position and posted there, never date a woman there because they will use every means possible to marry from the town and divorce your wife.
When I lived there, the roads in the town were not tarred and the Lateritic soil made it difficult for people to walk around. There was only one Clinic that was financed and operated by the Salvation Army Church. I very much know the town. It was indeed a Big village. It was bigger than Asante Agona and Mampong. They are mostly Seventh Day Adventists.
The people of the town are reasonably rich but very religious and superstitious. Everything that happened there was given a superstitious meaning. They are very kind people and honest too. I will never say anything bad about the town and its people because they are honest and tolerant and trustworthy people. I know the town more than Koforidua and Akwapem Adukrom which are my Traditional Hometowns. Ask about me and my family from DESPITE and the BOAMA family. I just like the people there because they are very kind and friendly.
