The pastor hit woman and asked her to leave the auditorium and sit outside
Some social media users have expressed mixed reactions online after Apostle Daniel Atta Gyebi, leader of the House of Jacob Chapel in Kumasi, sacked a church member for watching TikTok on her phone during a church service.
In a viral video capturing the incident, the pastor is seen walking towards the woman and asking whom she was communicating with on her phone.
Upon getting closer, he realised that the woman was watching TikTok.
Angered by her actions, the pastor hit her and asked her to leave the auditorium and sit outside.
He then instructed his junior pastors to hand over the woman’s bag so she could leave the premises.
He further advised the congregation to avoid using their phones during church services.
Following the circulation of the video online, many social media users have shared mixed reactions.
One user commented, “Totally wrong. Since it happened in church, why didn’t he advise her to do better next time instead of sending her out?”

Another wrote, “You can’t tell me what to do with my phone. If she was reading the Bible on her phone, would he have sacked her?”
A third user stated, “If you’re talking about discipline, then the church should also stop recording with phones and cameras. Even the media team isn’t fully concentrating on the message.”
Another added, “We have been so brainwashed that even young boys can speak to older women disrespectfully, all in the name of religion.”
